UPDATE: Goodfellow identifies Marine killed in stabbing over the weekend

Sgt. Bryce Rudisell was stabbed following a fight outside a San Angelo bar early Sunday morning. He died from his injuries.

GOODFELLOW AIR FORCE BASE, Texas — UPDATE (3:30 p.m. Oct. 3): Goodfellow Air Force Base officials have identified the U.S. Marine who died Oct. 2 following a fight in the Whiskey River Saloon parking lot.

USMC Sgt. Bryce Rudisell was a fire training instructor at the Louis F. Garland Department of Defense Fire Academy and assigned to Marine Detachment Goodfellow, Goodfellow AFB Public Affairs said.

The wing is focused on providing Rudisell's family, friends and teammates with support during this difficult time.

"The 17th Training Wing lost a valued member of our Joint Service family, and we are deeply saddened. We know the San Angelo community is grieving with us." Col. Matthew Reilman, 17th Training Wing commander, said in a release from Goodfellow. "Sgt. Bryce Rudisell will be missed by his unit and all who had the opportunity to serve with him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends."

The other victims of the altercation were also servicemembers assigned to Goodfellow.

The 17th Training Wing is actively coordinating with local law enforcement and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service.

ORIGINAL STORY: Goodfellow Air Force Base Public Affairs office has released a statement on the stabbing death of one of its active duty servicemembers. 

According to the San Angelo Police Department, the Marine was stabbed after an argument inside Whiskey River Saloon, 125 E. Concho Ave., led to a physical fight in the bar's parking lot.

All of the victims, which SAPD said were all servicemembers attached to Goodfellow, were taken to Shannon, where a 28-year-old Marine was pronounced dead.

Here is Goodfellow's statement:

"A Marine assigned to Goodfellow AFB died Oct. 2 following an altercation in San Angelo, Texas. The other victims of the altercation were also Servicemembers assigned to Goodfellow.

The Marine's name is being withheld until 24 hours after next-of-kin notification. Goodfellow is actively coordinating with local law enforcement and Naval Criminal Investigative Service.
