UPDATE: Arrest made in Abilene fatal hit-and-run

ABILENE, Texas — UPDATE (7:40 a.m. Feb. 22): A 28-year-old Hawley woman has been arrested in connection to a fatal hit-and-run involving a pedestrian in Abilene.

The Abilene Police Department said Gabriella Rae Lujan, 28, of Hawley, is charged with accident involving death, a second-degree felony, and failure to stop and render aid.

Lujan is accused of hitting Brenda Ann Janiszewski Jodoin, 58, of Virginia with her vehicle as Jodoin was in the road on Pine Street Feb. 16. Police say Lujan continued driving after hitting Jodoin, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lujan was booked into the Taylor County Jail Feb. 21.

ORIGINAL STORY: At 9:40 p.m. Friday, the Abilene Police Department responded to a major vehicle crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the 3100 block of Pine St. in north Abilene.

The pedestrian, 58-year-old Brenda Ann Janiszewski Jodoin of Virgina, was dead when officers arrived on scene. 

A vehicle traveling north on Pine Street struck Jodoin, who as in the roadway, and continued without stopping. The investigation continues and traffic investigators are searching for the identity of the vehicle and driver that left the scene.
