ABILENE, Texas — The Abilene Police Department said Tuesday it will continue increased traffic enforcement through 2024.

Increased enforcement will help change driving habits and make roads safer for all drivers. Selected officers will target specific areas of the city by increasing enforcement for a month-to-month period through a grant provided by the Texas Department of Transportation.

Several areas of the city will be the focus of the increased enforcement including the Winters Freeway and the South First corridor. Officers will focus on driving factors including speeding, distracted driving, seatbelt and child restraint violations and driving while intoxicated.

The Abilene Police Department is reminding all drivers to practice defensive driving habits and slow down while on the roadways.
