SAN ANGELO, Texas — A runoff election for the San Angelo Chief of Police position is set for June 15, 2024, after none of the three candidates in the May 4 race garnered more than 50 percent of votes.
When unofficial final totals were released by the Tom Green County Elections Office late Saturday, Lt. Mike Hernandez had 3,279 votes, Sgt. Travis Griffith received 3,080 votes and Lt. Chris Cimino had 263 votes.
Now, Hernandez and Griffith will face off June 15.
Cimino has since endorsed Griffith in the runoff.
The last day to register to vote or make a change of address effective for the Saturday, June 15, 2024, runoff election, is Thursday, May 16.
