Kids' Marathon celebration set for April 18 at San Angelo Stadium

SAN ANGELO, Texas — The 12th annual Kids' Marathon Celebration will be Thursday, April 18, at San Angelo Stadium, hosted by Shannon Medical Center says.

From 5:30-7 p.m., students in kindergarten through sixth grade can run the “celebration lap” and participate in fun fitness activities and games.

The Kids’ Marathon program encourages local students to form healthy exercise habits early in life. Beginning in January, students are encouraged to walk - or run - a total of 26 miles before the “celebration lap,” where they complete the final 0.2 miles around the stadium track.

All students are welcome to run the final “celebration lap” at the come-and-go family event.

Community organizations will at the stadium with free activities and information about upcoming summer programs to keep children active and motivated. Participants will automatically be entered into a drawing for Angelo State University and SAISD season sports passes and other prizes.

Local athletes and mascots from Angelo State University and Central and Lake View high schools will be on the field to join in festivities and pose for photos. The first 350 participants will receive a Kids’ Marathon race tag and finisher’s medal.
