San Angelo Police warn public about phone scam

"We ask that the public do their part in spreading the word to help prevent their family, friends or loved ones from becoming victims to these scams", the SAPD said.

SAN ANGELO, Texas — Another phone scam has been reported in the Concho Valley - this time, it involves scammers calling local citizens and demanding money.

The San Angelo Police Department said its aware of the scam where the unknown person(s) calls the victim and tells them someone they know is in trouble and money is needed to “help them out".  The department says its had a minimum of two calls for service regarding this scam in the past week with at least one victim losing a substantial amount of money.

"We ask that the public do their part in spreading the word to help prevent their family, friends, or loved ones from becoming victims to these scams", the SAPD said in a social media post.

Anyone with questions regarding a potential scam should contact the SAPD desk duty officer at 325-481-2696 during regular business hours or the non-emergency dispatch line at 325-657-4315 after hours.
