Olivia Munn arrives at the Governors Awards on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2024, at the Dolby Ballroom in Los Angeles.

WASHINGTON — Actress Olivia Munn has revealed that she was diagnosed with breast cancer last year and underwent a double mastectomy.

Munn shared a statement detailing her diagnosis as well as a carousel of photos to her Instagram on Wednesday morning.

"In February of 2023, in an effort to be proactive about my health, I took a genetic test that checks you for 90 different cancer genes. I tested negative for all, including BRCA (the most well-known breast cancer gene)," her statement read. "Two months later I was diagnosed with breast cancer."

"In the past ten months I have had four surgeries, so many days spent in bed I can't even count and have learned more about cancer, cancer treatment and hormones than I ever could have imagined," she continued. "I've kept the diagnosis and the worry and the recovery and the pain medicine and the paper gowns private."

The 43-year-old actress shared that her doctor saved her life after calculating her Breast Cancer Risk Assessment Score, leading to an MRI and eventually a biopsy that would reveal she had Luminal B cancer in both breasts — a fast moving and aggressive cancer.

Munn said that a month after the biopsy, she underwent a double mastectomy.

"I went from feeling completely fine one day, to waking up in a hospital bed after a 10-hour surgery the next," Munn said. "I'm lucky. We caught it with enough time that I had options."

The actress thanked her friends and family for "loving me through this" as well as her doctors, nurses and every medical staff involved in her procedure.

She went on to thank John Mulaney, who she has been dating since 2021, for being "there when I woke up, always placing framed photos of our little boy Malcom so it would be the first thing I saw when I opened my eyes."

Munn and Mulaney welcomed their son Malcolm Hiệp Mulaney in November 2021. The two were seen at the Oscars on Sunday.

"Thank you for fighting so hard to be here for us. Malc and I adore you. ❤️" Mulaney commented on Munn's post.

Munn was a correspondent on “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” and her movie credits include "Magic Mike,” “The Predator,” “Office Christmas Party” and “X-Men: Apocalypse.”
