ABILENE, Texas — The Grace Museum in Abilene has introduced a new program called "Tot Spot" aimed at nurturing the artistic talents of young children and fostering a love for art in the community. This monthly event, which occurs on the first consecutive Thursday and Friday from September through May, offers an interactive experience that engages children in the world of art.

Led by museum educators, the "Tot Spot" program begins with a guided gallery tour, where children can discover and explore various artworks. Following the tour, they engage in a hands-on art project, specially designed to suit their age group, and inspire their creativity.

Education director, Kathryn Mitchell said, “It’s really just a time for moms and kids, or dads and kids, grandparents as well, to come and start introducing art to their students.”

The program is open to all, although registration is preferred. Walk-ins are also welcomed and accommodated. Grace Museum members can bring their children to the event at no cost, while non-members are required to pay a fee of $7 per child.

Briana Falcon-Hau a parent who attended the "Tot Spot" session Friday, with her daughter, expressed her enthusiasm for the program.

“So, it’s really great for socialization for them at their age and just to be out and about with other kids their age.”

The program not only provides a creative outlet for children but also encourages them to express themselves and develop their artistic skills.

For more information about "Tot Spot" or to register for an upcoming session, visit the Grace Museum's website or contact the office directly.
