San Angelo PD investigating fatal crash on South Bryant Boulevard, West Avenue N

One person was pronounced dead at the scene and a second person was pronounced dead at a hospital.

SAN ANGELO, Texas — The San Angelo Police Department is investigating a fatal hit-and-run that occurred after 6 a.m. Thursday at the intersection of South Bryant Boulevard and West Avenue N.

The public is asked to avoid the area for the next hour approximately.

According to SAPD Public Information Officer, Tracy Piatt-Fox, an SAPD Traffic Officer was conducting traffic enforcement on the 1300 block of South Bryant Boulevard when he saw a grey SUV speeding southbound.

The officer tried to catch up to the vehicle and was approximately one and a half blocks away when he saw the SUV run a red light at West Avenue and collide with another vehicle, according to Piatt-Fox.

The driver of the second vehicle fled the scene. According to a preliminary investigation at the scene, the suspect vehicle is a 2001-2005 Ford Escape or Sport Trac.

The grey SUV had five passengers.

"One of the passengers was found dead at the scene. One of the passengers, who was transported to a nearby medical facility was pronounced dead at the hospital," Piatt-Fox said. "The three other occupants are being treated for their injuries. The extent of the injuries is unknown at this time."

"We are still actually working to have positive identification on the victims involved," Piatt-Fox said.

Traffic was temporarily closed on both north and south Bryant Boulevard to allow a drone to collect digital evidence.

SAPD Is asking the public to be on the lookout for the suspect vehicle, which will have damage across the front since it T-boned the driver side of the grey SUV.

Anyone with information on the vehicle is asked to contact SAPD dispatch at 325-657-4315. To remain anonymous tips can be sent through the Nixle Alerts or Crime Stoppers.

The investigation is ongoing and no other information was available for release.
