Abilene Police investigating first murder of 2024

An Abilene woman was shot and killed by her ex-husband, who also shot and wounded her sister, Abilene PD says.

ABILENE, Texas —

An Abilene woman is dead after being shot by her ex-husband, the Abilene Police Department said.

According to the APD, around 3:22 p.m. Thursday, March 7, officers were dispatched to a home in the 4300 block of Mary Lou Lane in south Abilene for a report of an injured person involving a shooting.

Officers found Denise Gray, 66, inside the home with a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second woman, Gray's sister, Donna Guerra, was inside the home and had also been shot. She was transported to the hospital for treatment of her injury.

Floyd Lane Hardison, 67, was arrested in connection to the shootings. He was booked into the Taylor County Jail.

The APD said all three adults lived in the home and confirmed Hardison was Gray's ex-husband.
