Thirty-fifth FOX West Texas Christmas Lights Parade set for Nov. 28 in downtown Abilene

ABILENE, Texas — The 35th FOX West Texas Christmas Lights Parade, presented by Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages, is happening at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, in downtown Abilene.

This year’s parade theme is “Very Merry Christmas Movies.” The parade is the highlight of the Abilene Downtown Association's City Sidewalks, a month-long holiday celebration.

Floats will travel the route from South 2nd and Oak streets in the SoDA District north on Pine Street, west on North 5th Street and south on Cypress Street. About 15,000 people a year attend the parade which includes 175 festive entries.

Downtown restaurants and shops will be open late for the festivities. Music groups will perform holiday music throughout downtown starting at 5:30 p.m. and Abilene Mayor Weldon Hurt will light the City Hall Christmas tree at 5:45 p.m.

Holiday events and shopping specials will take place downtown immediately following Thanksgiving and throughout the month of December starting with Small Business Saturday on Nov. 25.

Downtown museums have special events planned for all ages as well as holiday art activities.
