ABILENE, Texas — The former Kelly Moore Paint Store at 3437 N. 1st St. has reopened under the H.I.S. Paint name, a brand with stores in Oklahoma and Texas.
As part of H.I.S Paint’s entry into the Abilene market, employees of the former store have been rehired.
H.I.S. President Tony Cox saw it as an opportunity to both reopen the store and provide reemployment for Kelly Moore’s long-term employees.
“All their relationships with the community are already built with those folks. And so again, opportunity for them to continue on with their legacy of being in the paint industry,“ Cox said.
Four Texas stores, including the Abilene location, are either open or in the process of coming online. The H.I.S. Texas expansion also includes Odessa, plus Wichita Falls and Amarillo, where stores are in the planning stages.
All-in-all, a total of 30 former Kelly Moore employees will be rehired in Texas.
H.I.S. Paint is an industry leader catering to the industrial and architectural markets. The company was established in 1972, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
