City of Abilene announces closures for New Year's Day

Trash collection: residential and commercial routes will run regular routes Monday and Tuesday.

ABILENE — The City of Abilene said most of its offices and service centers will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019, in observance of the New Year’s Day holiday. Abilene Police, Fire and those providing life safety services will be in operation.

Among the offices closed Tuesday are:

City Hall

Public Health District

Convention Center

Development Corporation of Abilene

Airport Administration Office

Recreation & Senior Citizen Centers

Animal Shelter

Police & Fire Administration Offices

Solid Waste Services – offices closed*

Environmental Recycling Center, Brush Center and Citizens Convenience Center

Municipal Court – citations due Tuesday, Jan. 1, will be due Jan. 2, with no penalty

Mockingbird Library

Main Library

Abilene Zoo

Water Services Center at 701 E. Hwy 80

CityLink Transit:

Monday, New Year’s Eve – Saturday route service, no evening service

Tuesday, New Year’s Day – Closed, no service

The South Branch Library at the Mall of Abilene will be open New Year’s Day.
