Residential structure fire causes $60K in damages in Abilene

One occupant was home at the time of the fire but was able to exit the structure without injury.

ABILENE, Texas — At approximately 4 p.m. Wednesday, crews with the Abilene Fire Department responded to the 2000 block of N. 10th Street in reference to a residential structure fire.

According to an AFD press release, crews arrived to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the rear of the structure. Because of fire conditions and the proximity of neighboring homes, a second alarm was called.

There was a single occupant home at the time of the fire but he was able to exit the structure without injury.

The fire resulted in approximately $60,000 worth of damage.

The fire is still under investigation.

The American Red Cross was notified and reported to the scene for assistance.
