Elks Lodge partners with veteran organizations to host Veterans Stand Down

The Elks are partnering with the Military Peer Network and the VA to host the event at the VFW Hall in San Angelo.

SAN ANGELO, Texas — A Veterans Stand Down is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 3 at the VFW Hall, 125 S. Browning St.

The San Angelo Elks Lodge 1880 is partnering with the Military Veteran Peer Network and the West Texas VA Healthcare System for the event, funded in part by an Elks National Foundation Spotlight Grant.

The stand down is for all veterans in San Angelo and surrounding areas experiencing the need for housing services and other local resource information. Cold weather items will be available to the veteran population.

There will also be food, services and resources for veterans, who are asked to bring a copy of DD 214s, Military ID cards or VA ID cards. Those who do not have any of these documents can visit the event for help acquiring the needed documents.

Anyone who served in the United States Armed Forces is welcome to the stand down to find out what the VA and other community resources are available to veterans and their families. There will be 18 organizations present to provide help.

If you know of a veteran that does not have permanent housing, organizers ask that you please let them know about this event.
