SAN ANGELO, Texas — Downtown San Angelo, Inc., is getting a new executive director.

Monica Ramos has been appointed by the DTSA board of directors to succeed Del Velasquez, who will retire soon.

Ramos started with the organization in 2019 as an office manager and was promoted to assistant director in 2021.

She was a San Angelo Chamber of Commerce 20 Under 40 honoree in 2021. Ramos is involved in the San Angelo Hispanic Heritage Museum and Cultural Center and Concho Cadre steering committee. She served on the boards of directors of the Railway Museum of San Angelo and Young Professionals of San Angelo.

A release from DTSA says she was instrumental in the rebranding of the Downtown Stroll and led the Downtown Strong campaign during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the release, board chair Michele Babiash said, "Monica has the knowledge and skills to continue the mission and goals of Downtown San Angelo, Inc."

“She is the ultimate professional and she will lead downtown to the next level in its continued upward development,” soon-to-be former Executive Director Del Velasquez said.

Ramos' appointment is effective as of Jan. 1, 2024.
