Woman killed in single-vehicle rollover on Howard Street

San Angelo Police were called to the scene of a single-vehicle crash with entrapment early Wednesday. The driver was found dead at the scene.

SAN ANGELO, Texas — UPDATE (11:50 a.m. Nov. 25): The driver has been identified by the San Angelo Police Department as Cheyenne Miller, 26, of San Angelo.

ORIGINAL STORY: One woman is dead after a rollover crash Wednesday morning on Howard Street.

According to SAPD Public Information Officer Tracy Piatt-Fox, just before 5 a.m. Wednesday morning, police were dispatched to the area of Howard and Coleman streets for the report of a single-vehicle crash with an entrapment.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found the vehicle and the driver dead.

"The driver was a female from San Angelo," Piatt-Fox said. "She was pronounced deceased at the scene by JP Warner."

The preliminary crash investigation showed the vehicle was traveling in the 100 block of Howard, southbound, when the driver lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle then flipped on its side and slid, then collided with a brick retaining wall. After striking the wall, the vehicle continued traveling southbound and flipped again, landing on its roof. The vehicle came to rest after striking an AEP power pole, she said.

"Again, this is a preliminary crash investigation, but so far, it appears as if alcohol and speed are contributing factors to the crash," Piatt-Fox said.

Next of kin notification will be made and more information will be available, possibly Wednesday afternoon.
