UPDATE: AEP Texas gives estimated power restoration times, dates

UPDATE ON OUTAGES IN WEST TEXAS
5-18-2019 - 6:45 P.M.

AEP Texas crews have reduced the number of outages in the San Angelo area to 2,840, 90 in Ballinger and 980 in Abilene as of 6:45 p.m. Saturday.

The company has issued estimated time of restoration projections for the following Abilene areas:

9 p.m. Saturday

Hartford Street: Fairmont to South 7th

Elm Creek: South 7th at Clack Street (Nursing home)

Elm Creek: Corsicana area between S 7th and Lamesa

Noon Sunday 

Elm Creek: Pueblo and Clack

9 p.m. Sunday 

Elm Creek: Don Juan to Russell: from Saxon to Westridge

AEP Texas has issued estimated time of restoration projections for the following San Angelo areas:

8 p.m. Saturday

Walnut/Sherwood//Bryant/Willow/Washington streets area
Tankersly and FM 2335 area

6 p.m. Sunday 

Bradford/Emerson/Veck streets area by 6 p.m.

UPDATE: 1:45 p.m. Saturday: AEP Texas said Saturday afternoon that its crews are continuing to reduce the number of customers without electric service in the San Angelo and Abilene areas.

As of 1:45 p.m. Saturday, 7,780 customers remained without power in the San Angelo area as compared to the 28,400 this morning. Approximately 1,600 remained without power in the Abilene area, compared to the 9,350 left without power Saturday morning.

Crews have been able to restore power to much of the downtown San Angelo area with the exception of Walnut and Jackson streets. Service to residents living there is expected to be restored by 8 p.m. Saturday.

There have been several reports of individuals not watching for downed power lines when walking or driving through areas hit by the storm.  PLEASE CONSIDER ALL DOWNED POWER LINES ENERGIZED AND DANGEROUS. Customers encountering downed power lines should call 866-223-8508.

Customers can monitor updates regarding the status of outages by going to the aeptexas.com website. There is a real-time outage map that has the most current available information in the News and Information section. Customers also have the option of signing of for mobile alerts where text or email messages regarding outages can be sent to their mobile device.

 

UPDATE: 12:09 p.m. Saturday: AEP Texas has developed some initial estimated restoration times for four of the areas hardest hit by Saturday morning’s storm in the San Angelo area:

Downtown San Angelo, especially around Walnut and Jackson streets -- 8 p.m. Saturday

Santa Rita area -- 6 p.m. Sunday

Bradford area especially around 23rd and 24th streets -- 6 p.m. Monday

Ballinger area – 6 p.m. Monday

Customers encountering downed power lines should now call 866-223-8508. PLEASE CONSIDER ALL DOWNED POWER LINES ENERGIZED AND DANGEROUS.

Additional estimated restoration times will be released as they become available. As of noon, crews had reduced the number of outages in the San Angelo area to around 10,600 as compared to the 28,400 outages this morning when the storm swept through the area.

 

ORIGINAL STORY - 10:45 a.m. Saturday: As of 10:45 a.m. Saturday, AEP Texas said its crews had reduced the number of outages to 13,600 in San Angelo and to 2,300 in Abilene. Crews will continue their efforts to restore power in both areas following severe weather that hit around 5:30 a.m., leaving approximately 28,400 without power in San Angelo; and 9,350 without power in Abilene.

Customers can monitor updates regarding the status of outages by going to aeptexas.com.
