ABILENE, Texas — A permanent traffic signal will be activated at the corner of FM 89 (Buffalo Gap Road) and Robertson Drive following a signal mast arm installation that will begin Tuesday.

Work will start at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, as a Texas Department of Transportation contractor begins the installation on the northeast corner of the intersection. The signal mast arm will complete signal installation at that location, TxDOT says.

Once the installation is complete, the permanent signal is expected to be activated Thursday, April 4. TxDOT says traffic will be stopped for approximately 10-15 minutes while the temporary signals are disconnected.

Drivers are asked to use caution and avoid distractions when driving in the work zone, watch for crews and equipment working in and near the intersection.
