ABILENE, Texas — A 35-year-old Abilene woman died in a motorcycle crash Saturday, according to the Abilene Police Department.

The crash happened just after midnight Saturday. Police say a Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling north on South Leggett Street when it left the roadway. The passenger, Shanna Bowman, was ejected from the motorcycle.

Bowman was pronounced dead at the scene. The rider, 37-year-old Shannon Pruitt, was taken to the hospital with injuries. Neither were wearing helmets.

The APD says speed and alcohol are both believed to be contributing factors. The crash remains under investigation.
