Taylor Co. Sheriff's Office warns residents about phone scam

A message from TCSO said scammers are calling claiming to be with the department and demanding money.

TAYLOR COUNTY, Texas — If you live in Taylor County and get a phone call from someone claiming to be with the Taylor County Sheriff's Office and they're asking for money, hang up.

The TCSO said scammers are calling from 325-305-8060, claiming to be Captain Smart, Lieutenant Jones or Sergeant Griffin. 

These scammers are demanding money and asking people to deposit money into Coin Star kiosks.

The Taylor County Sheriff's Office says it never calls and demands money for anything.

If you receive one of these calls, call the TCSO at 325-674-1300 and report the call immediately.
