SAN ANGELO, Texas — Educational excellence has always been a priority at Angelo State University and recently, the school won an award to commend their efforts.

On Oct. 5, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott honored colleges and universities across the state with the 2022 Veteran Education Excellence Award by the Texas Veterans Commission's Veterans Education Program.

The award is split into three categories: gold, silver and bronze. It focuses on colleges and universities who provide helpful resources for veterans and active duty military members.

"I applaud these institutions for their efforts to provide wide-ranging services for student veterans and military-connected students, including housing, support and career services, mental health and disability services, and more," Governor Abbott said.

ASU was given the Gold Award amongst other institutions including Texas State University, University of North Texas and various branches of Texas A&M, to name a few.
