Golden Corral responds to social media claim of wrongful termination

VERIFIED: Golden Corral employee terminated for reasons other than reportedly saving a child's life.

SAN ANGELO, TX — A recent social media post made its way to the FOX West Texas newsroom alleging a San Angelo Golden Corral employee had been terminated after coming to the aid of a child who was choking. Others who shared the post called for a boycott of the restaurant and the employee’s job restored.

FOX West Texas reached out to the franchisee who owns the local restaurant. This is the statement we received.

“While we cannot go into specifics because of employee privacy, we can say that reports that an employee lost his job because he saved the life of a child in distress in our San Angelo, Texas, restaurant are not true. We had no prior knowledge of the deed described in the reports. The employee was let go for other reasons. We are thankful the child received assistance and we would love to have him and his family back to enjoy a meal at our expense,” JFK Corral Inc., a Golden Corral Franchisee
