The Regional Cavalry Competition will take place on the fort’s Parade Ground with riders in uniforms and equipment portraying various eras from the early 1800s to the 1940s, competing in jumping, pistol and saber contests plus combat and military horsemanship.

Frontier Day, an almost 50-year tradition, begins with the Lions Clubs Pancake Breakfast and continues throughout the day with many activities, displays and entertainment reflecting San Angelo's agricultural and ranching heritage. 1800s games and crafts, a vintage baseball program on the parade ground, a skit by the Concho Cowboy Company, a performance by trick roper Doug Whittaker and more can be seen at the event.
