AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) said an arrest has been made after a man was seen throwing a Molotov cocktail against a church near the Capitol Complex on Aug. 31.

DPS was offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest. DPS said two tips were submitted via Crime Stoppers, and multiple rewards will be paid as a result.

The agency said the arrest was a multi-agency effort including the Austin Fire Department and UT Austin police.

DPS said the man approached the church between 1 a.m. and 1:30 a.m. on 13th Street and Lavaca Street and threw a Molotov cocktail against the wall of the building.

DPS said troopers responded but the suspect had already run away.

KVUE is not publishing the suspect’s name or picture because there’s no ongoing threat to public safety.
