SAN ANGELO, Texas — The West Texas VA Health Care System will hold drive-thru flu clinics for area veterans from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. starting Tuesday, Sept. 29 at various locations.

According to a WTVAHCS press release, veterans will be able to speak to a nurse, fill out necessary paperwork and get their immunization from their vehicle.

The drive-thru clinics are an effort by WTVAHCS to make it as convenient as possible for veterans to receive the flu shot.

The drive-thru clinics will be held on the following dates and at these locations.

San Angelo CBOC – Tuesday, Sept. 29

George H. O’Brien Jr. VAMC – Monday, Oct. 5

Abilene CBOC – Tuesday, Oct. 13

Wilson & Young Medal of Honor CBOC – Monday, Oct. 19.

The schedule can also be found on the WTVAHCS Facebook page.

The VA has partnered with more than 60,000 community locations in its new Community Care Network (CNN) as well as urgent care centers to provide flu shots for veterans as an alternative to the drive-thru clinics.

Veterans can also use the VA facility locator to find information on their local VAMC and to find an in-network retail pharmacy or urgent care facility.

Veterans can check their eligibiliy by contacting their local VA medical facility or call 844-698-2311, select option 1 and then 1 again.
