VERIBEST, Texas — At the Division-II volleyball level, Veribest High School will now be represented as senior Emily Scott officially signed with Sul Ross University Tuesday afternoon.

She went on an official visit earlier in the year and from the moment the Lobos extended the offer, Scott was sold.

"I am so excited to be here, it is so amazing to have everyone here and be official with them (Sul Ross)," Scott said.

Her journey to this point required work, but a little more than that in the eyes of her parents, Mickey and Kay. They say their daughter may not be the biggest, but her work ethic and self-belief catapulted her to the position she's in today and they could not be more proud.

"She had this dream of playing college volleyball about 6-7 years ago. She was about knee-high to anybody and you are thinking that is never going to happen. She kept working, she would work in the backyard, she would work extra hours, she would play with bigger kids, she would go to open gym with the adults and she just decided she was going to get as good as she could possibly get," Mickey Scott said.

Fast forward to Tuesday and Scott put pen to paper, signing her letter of intent to play at Sul Ross for the 2024-2025 season and beyond. It's a moment she could have never imagined, she said.

"It felt so amazing. It was exciting, I can and cannot believe I am here. It is just amazing," Scott said.

Now the focus for the Scott family is making Alpine not only a future home, but to do all they can to cheer Emily on through each step of her collegiate journey.
