SAN ANGELO, Texas — At approximately 7:45 a.m. Sunday, San Angelo Police and Fire department personnel were dispatched to the 5200 block of Ben Ficklin Road for the report of a single-vehicle crash with entrapment.
According to an SAPD press release, when units arrived they found a partially submerged pickup truck in the drainage ditch.
The driver and single occupant, Tyler Grappe, 38, was unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace J.P. McGuire.
The preliminary crash investigation showed Grappe was traveling westbound at approximately 4 a.m. Sunday, when his truck left the roadway and collided with the median and a utility pole before coming to rest on the embankment.
Next of kin has been notified.
