Abilene PD offers free motorcycle course

The Abilene Police Department is offering a free motorcycle safety course Saturday, May 11.

ABILENE, Texas — Abilene Police Department’s motors officers will be holding a free motorcycle safety course from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 11, in the front parking lot at 4565 S. First St.

The class size is limited and will be on a first come first serve basis for the first 30 people who register with this form: https://shorturl.at/hlrT4. A confirmation email will be sent to those who are approved.

Requirements for the course include:

  • Must be 18 and possess a valid motorcycle driver’s license with the “M” endorsement.
  • Proof of liability insurance.
  • Must have a motorcycle in good working condition with current registration.

Required protective equipment:

  • DOT approved helmet.
  • Eye protection (glass lenses are not allowed).
  • Boots that cover the ankle.
  • Gloves.
  • Long pants with a long-sleeved shirt.

Folding chair and engine guards are not required, but they are recommended.

Student riders will be required to sign a release of liability waiver before participating in the course. Students should bring a lunch and snacks. Water will be provided.
