SAN ANGELO, Texas — As part of its continuing grand reopening celebration, the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts will host its Learn to Love series - kicking off with "The Art of Print & Dye adult art class" May 9.

Artist/designer Amy Tucker will lead the class from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. May 9 in Studio Rio, 423 S. Oakes St. Refreshments will be provided.

Attendees will learn how to create a naturally-dyed organic bandana and silk scarf using seasonal organic plant material, as well as dye properties of selected plants and trees; the impacts of the seasons and environment on plant color; and chemical composition.

Tucker will demonstrate how to use flowers and leaves to transfer dyes and prints, as well as various bundle-dyeing techniques. She'll show examples of the finished effects and by the end of the class, attendees will have two beautiful creations to take home.

Tucker is an artist working in textiles, mixed media and jewelry and the founder at ART RANCH in Fredericksburg, focused on artist residencies and workshops connecting arts and the environment.
